Washington DC - The Nation's Capital

Here are some pics from my trip to the East Coast.  Here are pics from Washington DC.

Here began our day of sight seeing.

Here's Navan chillin as we start our day.

Here are Navan and I in front of the Capital Building.

Next we walked down Capital Mall (or was it National Mall)...anyway it's not really a MALL at all. Just the walk strip to the Smithsonian Museums and Washington Monument.

Here's Navan dancing down the street.

We decided to stop in at the Museum of American History. Here I'm trying to blend with the background of a scene. Did it work?

Here Navan found a tribute to "his people".

Bet you didn't know Julia Childs and I were such good friends!

I wonder where Navan went? I can't seem to find him! Can you?

Okay...back on track. Isn't this a beautiful sunset? At last! The Washington Monument.

Here's the other side of the Washington Monument as we leave in search of the Lincoln Monument.

After wandering around trying to find the Lincoln Memorial...we found a pond. Isn't it gorgeous?!

There it is up ahead! I'm actually standing where the Reflection Pool usually is. They had it drained during construction of their upcoming World War II Memorial.

Almost there!

Um...everything seem a LOT bigger up close..and that SO includes these here stairs! Son of a....!

Look! It's honest Abe...in the flesh..or um...you know what I mean!

Um..yeah. Things really are LOTS bigger up close.

Here we are at the Vietnam War Memorial on the way to the White House.

After walking in circles...we finally found the White House!

Here I am right out front.

Here we are at the end of our day sightseeing. Gawd this is a horrible picture!! Be kind...we had a hard day of sightseeing.

I was able to persuade Navan to take a Trolley Night Tour of DC!

The first stop on the tour was the FDR Memorial. Here I am trying to bond with a statue dude there.

Navan tries his own approach.

Here I am trying to blend with the Depression Line.

Navan decided just to pose with his Depression homies!

Here was a water fountainy thingy we found.

Next, was the Korean War Memorial. This was a little creepy. They didn't have much lighting here at all.

Here's Navan doing his own tribute to the soldiers.

The tour did take us back to our good friend Abe. Here's Navan...or his head anyway...with Abe.
